Three Point Shooting Competition

Join us for an evening of competitive fun and show off your three point shooting skills

Using our state-of-the-art shooting machines, four teams of 3 players will shoot three pointers for five minutes each round. Teams will be randomly determined and shuffled for each round. Players will be positioned at the top of the key and each elbow. A shooting machine will pass a basketball to each player in sequence every three seconds. Most baskets made during the round will score a victory point for each player on that team. There will be between 8 and 12 rounds

Single player lightning rounds will also be used at the beginning of the evening and just before the finals. Each player will have 90 seconds to make as many baskets as possible. The shooting machine will pass to the right elbow, free throw line, and left elbow very quickly. Players will need to run to each spot. Top scorer among all players will earn one victory point.

At the end of the evening the top three players (most victory points - tie breaker will be total points for all teams they were on plus baskets made during lightning rounds) will face off in a final contest. It will take place on a half court. Five racks of five balls each will be spread evenly across the perimeter starting at the baseline. 20 of the balls will be worth one point each and the remaining five balls will be worth two points each. Players will decide the distribution of the balls. Three bonus balls will be available near half court (about 30 feet from the basket) worth three points each. Each player will have 80 seconds to shoot as many of the 28 balls as they can.

LEAGUE BASICS

Game Format & Timing
     – Five on Five

     – 2 Halves
     – 1st half – 22 minutes
     – 2nd half – 18 minutes + Elam Ending
     – Running Clock (except during last minute of 1st half and during Elam ending)
Elam Ending
This is an incredible way to end the game (made popular by the TBT Tournament). The purpose is to eliminate teams intentionally fouling at the end of games and ensures that every game ends on a game-winning shot.
     – When the 22-minute game clock reaches 4-minutes left in the 2nd half, the game will be stopped            at the next whistle (foul, out-of-bounds, or timeout) or made basket.
     – At this point, the Winning Score will be determined by adding 6 points to the leading team’s score.           For example, if Red is leading 45-41, the Winning Score would be set to 51 points.
     – The first team to reach the Winning Score, wins the game.

Fouls/Free Throws
     – Players cannot foul out
     – Any shooting foul committed prior to Elam Ending will be shot as follows
          – On a missed shot, 1 shot for either 2 or 3 points (no line-up)
          – On a made shot, 1 shot for 1 point (no line-up)
          – Regardless of whether the shot is made or missed, the defense will get the ball
     – Every second non-shooting foul in the paint will result in a free throw + ball

     – During the Elam Ending
          – Shooting fouls will follow normal basketball rules (with a line-up)
          – Non-shooting fouls will result in a free throw for the opposing team and the ball.
     – Any intentional foul will result in 2 points + the ball (no free throws shot)

We can email you a more complete set of rules on request.  All players who register will receive a copy.
