Valentines – Hoops of Love

Minimal basketball experience needed—just a willingness to have a great time! 

Celebrate love, laughter, and a little friendly competition at Hoops of Love, our special Valentine’s Day basketball event! Whether you and your partner are seasoned ballers or just in it for the fun, this event is designed for all skill levels. 

Couples/partners will take on five Love & Basketball challenges, each testing key elements of both the game and relationships—Communication, Resilience, Teamwork, and Trust.

Some events will be scored by points, while others will be a race against the clock, all leading to an overall team ranking. But there’s a twist—before each game, teams will roll the dice for a chance at fun modifiers that could give you an advantage or add a playful challenge!

Games: 

1. Free Throw Frenzy:
   
   

Each partner must alternate taking free-throw shots. You get 2 minutes to make as many free throws as possible.

Scoring: 

• Hit the net: 1 point
• Hit the rim : 2 points
• Score: 3 points

2. XOXO Hot Shot Challenge:
   
   

Couples have 90 seconds to score as many points as possible from the point specific spots on the court. Couples must take turns shooting and cannot shoot from the same spot twice in a row.

3. Love is a Battlefield:
   
   

Partners must work with each other to get across the minefield. One partner is blind folded and will be the one to enter the minefield. The other partner must stand on the side of the field and direct their partner from one end to the other. Goal: Guide your partner through the field to grab three of the mini basketballs and place them in the bucket at the other end, without hitting and mines. If you hit, you must place the mini ball down and return to the starting end of the field. You can only hold one ball at a time and once you drop a ball into the bucket you must re enter through the start line.  The couple with the fastest time takes the top spot.

4. Don’t Fumble My Heart Passing Challenge:

Couples stand 15 feet apart. Each partner alternates chest passes using a basketball. 

The goal is to complete as many successful passes in 1 minute as possible. 

Twist: Every time the ball drops, 5 points are subtracted from your score. 

Scoring: 1 point per successful pass.

5. You set my Heart aBlaze:

While one partner dribbles a basketball, couples have to move as one and try to tag as many red lights as possible in 1 min. Every break in the chain will result in a 3-point deduction from your final score

Cupid’s Roll: For each game you will have an opportunity to roll for a chance to modify the game. This could help or put your team at a disadvantage. Your choice if you want to leave it up to chance 

Event Placement Point System: 

1st: 9pts 

2nd: 6pts 

3rd: 3pts 

4th: 1pt 

Extra Points: 

5pts for matching outfits 

3pt for team selfie social media post (with #innerdrivehoops and #IDHoopsoflove)

Time Commitment: 

Couples can expect to spend no more than ~45 minutes at the gym, including time to arrive, warm up, and complete the events. 
  

Prizes: 

Winners are determined by the collective points received for placements at each event.  

First Place: $100 visa gift card 

Second Place: $50 visa gift card

Third Place: $25 AMC Gift Card
