Three Point Shooting Competition

Thursday, August 15, 2024

Time: 8:00pm - 10:00pm

Price: $25

Join us for an evening of competitive fun and show off your three point shooting skills.

Using our state-of-the-art shooting machines, four teams of 3 players will shoot three pointers for five minutes each round. Teams will be randomly determined and shuffled for each round. Players will be positioned at the top of the key and each elbow. A shooting machine will pass a basketball to each player in sequence every three seconds. Most baskets made during the round will score a victory point for each player on that team. There will be between 8 and 12 rounds

Single player lightning rounds will also be used at the beginning of the evening and just before the finals. Each player will have 90 seconds to make as many baskets as possible. The shooting machine will pass to the right elbow, free throw line, and left elbow very quickly. Players will need to run to each spot. Top scorer among all players will earn one victory point.

At the end of the evening the top three players (most victory points - tie breaker will be total points for all teams they were on plus baskets made during lightning rounds) will face off in a final contest. It will take place on a half court. Five racks of five balls each will be spread evenly across the perimeter starting at the baseline. 20 of the balls will be worth one point each and the remaining five balls will be worth two points each. Players will decide the distribution of the balls. Three bonus balls will be available near half court (about 30 feet from the basket) worth three points each. Each player will have 80 seconds to shoot as many of the 28 balls as they can.

Shooting Competitions

Ages 7 to 10

Five teams (3 players per team) will shoot for six minutes each round.  One player from each team will shoot for the first 2 minutes, then another player for two minutes, and finally the remaining player will shoot for 2 minutes.  The players not shooting will rebound for their shooting teammate.  Shots will be taken from the right elbow, free throw line, and left elbow (in that order) and repeated as many times as possible during the two minutes.  Each made basket scores one point for their team.  The team with the most baskets made during the round will score a victory point.  There will be between 8 and 12 rounds depending on the number of teams.

At the end of the event, the top two teams  (most victory points – tie breaker will be total points scored during all rounds) will face off in a final contest.  The final round will start with each player shooting for 2 minutes rotating between five different locations.  The team with the fewest total wins during the initial rounds will go first.  All remaining players will then alternate turns until all six players have gone.  The round will conclude with each player shooting for 1 minute using the same order as before.  The total number of baskets made during the final round will determine the winning team.

Each player on the winning team will receive a trophy, an Inner Drive Hoops t-shirt, and one free pass to Inner Drive Hoops.
